| Inspired by the set I
played at the 2005 Ant Disco at the Prodigal in London, November
2005. This is longer than what was played, so enjoy this in
better sound quality that the venue had. The plan, so I
realised while typing the notes below, was to cover all of Adam's
musical era's in one long set. Enjoy. PLAYLIST (part one)
01 - Adam
And The Ants -
Digital Tenderness (podcast intro)
|
 |
Yes, I
purposely used this as a music bed for my introduction to this
podcast special. |
02 - Adam
Ant - Kings Of The
Wild Frontier drums intro (Live soundboard mix 22-03-1995)
|
 |
It's all
in the left speaker. Dave Barbe and Dave Ruffy jamming
before they played Kings at the Shepherd Bush Empire on 22nd
March 1995. |
03 - Adam
Ant -
Kings Of The Wild Frontier drums
intro (Live soundboard mix 23-03-1995)
|
 |
This
recording, also from the soundboard, is all the right speaker.
So in effect you know have FOUR drummers for the intro to this
mix. Taken from the Shepherd's Bush Empire gig on 23rd
March 1995. |
04 - Adam
And The Ants - Dog Eat Dog (Carty's Extended Mix)
|
 |
Exclusive to this mix. |
05 - Adam
Ant - Goody Two Shoes
|
 |
The
single version was used for this mix. That's why the
sleeve on the left is credited to Adam And The Ants, as that's
what it said on initial poster copies and picture discs. |
06 - Elvis
Presley - Jailhouse Rock (acapella)
|
 |
A very
rare acapella. I had to add Elvis's guitars myself so
the link with the end of Goody Two Shoes was more apparent. |
07 - Adam
Ant - The Horse You
Rode In On
|
 |
This was a last minute
additon. |
08 - Adam
Ant - Manners &
Physique (demo)
|
 |
A floor
filling fave at Ant Discos. It would be a fate worse
than death to miss it out. |
09 - The
5678's - Woo Hoo (sample)
|
 |
It had to be done... |
10 - Adam
Ant - Place In The Country
|
 |
...because of this track |
11 - Adam
And The Antst - The Magnificent 5
|
 |
Slightly
faster then the original? It sounds it, and I can't
remember. Spot where the drum loop changes from
Goody Two Shoes back to the Dog Eat Dog
loop. This track has never sounded so tribal! |
12 - Adam
Ant - P.O.E.
|
 |
I
remember wanting to add the part where Lenny Bruce sings a
similar line from one of his routines. But I forgot to. |
13 - Adam
And The Ants - 5 Guns West
|
 |
I'm sure
this isn't the first time I have put the Dog Eat Dog
drums with 5 Guns West? Ah yes.
Carty Mixes
Volume 5. |
14 - Adam
Ant - Wonderful
 |
Wonderful mixed into
5 Guns West? Yeah, it was a hit or miss attempt,
but just about made it. (I think) Anyway, great to
hear a tribal tint to it. |
|
|
|
15 - Adam
And The Ants - Family Of Noise
|
 |
Again,
the Dog Eat Dog drums work surprisingly well
here. A sod to mix due to Dave Barbe's human
drumming (i.e. not in perfect time.) It took ages, I
remember that much. |
16 - Adam
And The Ants - It Doesn't Matter
|
 |
I can't
remember if this is the Peel Sessions version or not? So
I'll display the cover just in case. |
17 - Adam
Ant - Headgear
|
 |
Now I
remember. The aim was to include every era of Adam's
music! |
18 - Adam
Ant - Spanish Games
|
 |
This
part never got played at the disco, as I finished the set
earlier than planned. |
19 - Adam
And The Ants - Dog Eat Dog (End Mix)
|
 |
And
let's go back to where we started...for the finish. |
