Release date: April 11th 2005
Running Order:
01. Prick Up Your Ears (KPM demo)
The original demo of "The
Magnificent Five" with the original "Ken & Joe" lyrics. Most of
the lyrics are totally different to what appeared on the album,
Kings Of The Wild Frontier LP.
Ant Lady's lyrics
02. Jolly Roger (KPM demo)
Very similar to the finished Kings
album version, but we get some alternative verses yet again and a
longer intro.

03. Making History (KPM demo)
Another Kings demo from the KPM
studios session, although this track never appeared on the
US version of Kings.
Again this is close the that finished version, but what I particularly
like about this demo is the "phazing" effect on the guitars which is
absent on the final version. At the end Adam can be
heard to say "Can you play that back to me?" to the engineer,
Ian Capel.

04. Don't Be Square (Be There) (KPM demo)
For some reason, what Adam says at
the intro, sounds so damn cool! "Do you want to dance? The music
ain't too good. A little hot stuff" The bass guitar is
different, bit more funkier. A great ending where Marco goes
feedback crazy! One of the best Kings demos.

05. Mowhok (WIndmill demo)
The sleeve notes credit this as a
KPM demo, but it is in fact one of the Windmill demos. Instead
of the "here we are in the 80's" verse, we have the first verse
repeated (accept the year is now 1630, not 1730).

06. That Voodoo! (Windmill demo)
One of my favourite tracks from
Prince Charming. Although where
we have a trumpet solo on the album, we have Adam doing his best to
sing it on this demo.
The high point are the guitars.
Ant Lady's lyrics
07. 5 Guns West (Windmill demo)
It's obvious to me that a lot of
effort went into layering Adam's vocals to get the desired effect.
Unfortunately I don't see that same attention to detail with the
actual singing. Nevertheless, it's great to see how this tune
developed into the one we all know and love.
Ant Lady's lyrics
08. Ups And Downs (Windmill demo)
This ended up on the
Prince Charming album as "Mile
High Club", and isn't vastly different. Except that Adam hit the
notes well on the finished version. (Well those notes are a mile
high). A noticeable key change towards the end in this demo, and
he says something about "another track" at the end.
Ant Lady's lyrics
09. Friend Or Foe (Windmill demo)
10. Seven Up (instrumental demo)
11. Manzenera (1981 instrumental demo of "Desperate But Not Serious")
12. Saigon (KPM demo)
13. Scorpio Rising (KPM demo)
14. Mohair Lockeroom Pin-up Boys (KPM demo)
15. Dandy In The Underworld (from the Wonderful sessions)
There is a pattern of saving the
best for last and this is certainly no exception. This is a
finished cover version of the T. Rex tune. Dated on the sleeve
notes as from 1987, although it does sound much later. This is
Adam and Marco at their best. What is noticeable about this are
the references to Prince Charming, both lyrically, with whistles and
screams. Also watch out for the false fade! (Expect a further
exclusive announcement about this track from this site on April 4th)

"Adam Ant Remastered"
Carty Notes:
This bonus CD came as a last minute announcement, but it is included in a special collectors' edition
box set,
entitled "Adam Ant Remastered" (limited to just 5,000
copies). This box set includes the remastered CD's for
Friend Or Foe,
Strip and
Vive Le Rock, all released on April
11th 2005. The previous remastered releases,
Dirk Wears White Søx,
Kings Of The Wild Frontier and
Prince Charming (released in 2004) also fit in the box (as
exclusively pictured above).
This bonus disc, entitled Redux includes 15 additional rare tracks from the original recordings of the six remastered albums. Initially, only one track had been confirmed, Dandy In The Underworld, which is a cover version of an old T.Rex tune and was recorded around the time of Wonderful,
although the sleeve notes indicate it was recorded in 1987. It also features Adam singing part of the lyrics to
Prince Charming.
