Following the
withdrawal of the Digital Tenderness DVD one week before its release date, fans
were kept waiting for the first Ant DVD release. Whispers of a watered
down version of Digital Tenderness began to circulate, with the pre-Kings
footage ending up on the cutting room floor.
It was soon
announced that the DVD was to be completely repackaged to accompany the recent
Stand & Deliver hard back book, audio book and compilation CD releases. If
that CD release has any bearing on this new DVD package, then it's best not to
expect a high standard here.
Nevertheless, all
of the hard work for this collection of promo videos has already been done by
Marco and his team, as it appears SonyBMG have just lifted the titles straight
from Digital Tenderness. However, there have been sacrifices. The
following six clips have NOT been included on this compilation:
-
Plastic Surgery
in the white room which appeared in a TV screen in the 1977 movie Jubilee.
-
Dirk Wears White Socks demo to Laurie Rae Chamberlain's live film footage
-
Cartrouble video by Stephanie Gluck'made for Malcolm McLaren.
-
Tabletalk video by Stephanie Gluck'made for Malcolm McLaren.
-
Zerøx video, visually re-edited to match the
soundtrack due to the tape stretching.
-
The Idea performed live at the
Odeon in Lewisham, 1980.
-
Adam interviewed by Marco
To help ease the pain of the sacrifice SonyBMG
have included the Laurie Rae Chamberlain footage, but to the music of
Zerox (as opposed to Dirk Wears White Socks).
Plus they have made this a double DVD release. The second DVD features the
Fulcrum TV produced Adam documentary Stand & Deliver.
Filmed in 2006 and broadcast on ITV London in two parts on 30th November
and 7th of December. This DVD includes over 25 minutes of extra footage
not aired on TV (the Ant Rap forum gives this figure as 37 minutes).
The final shots were filmed at the Ant Lib Disco in London on November
4th 2006.
The DVD will retain the 5.1 Surround Sound
meant for its predecessor, and is classed at Region 2, PAL.
