Adam Ant 2008 calendar withdrawn?

Unofficial Adam Ant calendar
The withdrawn Adam Ant calendar

Adam Ant News - The unofficial Adam Ant calendar, which was due to be shipped on 1st August 2007, has been withdrawn, it seems.

As soon as the item had appeared on the Amazon.co.uk site (link below), it was announced on adam-ant.net that was not authorised by Adam and was therefore unofficial. Shortly after, the word "unofficial" was added to its listing on Amazon.

Fans who had pre-ordered the calendar from Amazon have now been told:

We are sorry to inform you that we have been unable to obtain the following item:

"Adam Ant Calendar 2008" [Calendar]

We apologise for the length of time it has taken us to reach this conclusion. Until recently, we had still hoped to obtain this item for you.

This item has now been cancelled from your order and we can confirm that you have not been charged for it.

Please accept our apologies for any disappointment or inconvenience caused.

It is believed that Adam himself has pulled the plug on this calendar, which was backed by the Daily Mirror and to be published by Blossom Rock. It had been hinted at that an official calendar would be released, but no such announcement has been made since.

It has to be said that this is another Ant item withdrawn from sale in recent years. Last year, the planned Digital Tenderness DVD was halted just before it due to be pressed, just weeks ahead of its release. It also looks as if the planned demos box set, Young Man Rocking will never see the light of day.

However, we are to expect a vinyl Ant singles box set in October 2008, followed by a CD version soon after wards. Plus a planned imagery book from a few years ago may now be back on the cards. Also, following Adam's spectacular live performance earlier this week in London, we could expect to see a CD of the performed music plus video footage of the event. Hopefully.
