Adam News - Christmas Day 2007 brought something extra special to Ant fans world-wide. The first ever Carty interview with Adam Ant was published on cartrouble.nl.

In the interview, which was also published on the Official Adam Ant site at adam-ant.net 24 hours earlier, Adam hints about his future plans, expresses his views on the influx of substandard Ant compilation CD's, talks about Persuasion, the remastered re-issues, the demos box set, the planned singles box set, not to mention his recent "comeback performance" at the Bloomsbury Theatre, London in September 2007.

The interview is the latest of a long line of Carty interviews which have featured many prominent Ant players, behind-the-scenes personnel and music journalists. Stars such as Marco Pirroni (twice), Chris Constantinou and more recently, Dave Pash who accompanied Adam on stage at the Bloomsbury.

Response to the interview from the fans has, however, been admittedly mixed. Whilst many fans have reacted favourably to Adam finally acknowledging the online contingency, some have expressed their disappointment in his apparently impersonal style of answering the questions.

Adam certainly has kept his cards close to his chest over certain topics and opinions and hasn't given a lot away. But then the very nature of the questioning touches on some subjects that would have required a great deal of frankness from Adam to have answered them fully. That was a gamble Carty took in his selection of questions for the interview. The intention was clear, to steer well away from the generic question and answers fed to the public via the press, TV and radio interviews Adam has recently given.

Carty's recent interview with Dave Pash, which was also in collaboration with adam-ant.net, proved exceedingly popular. Not just with fans but by Adam himself and possibly played some part in him agreeing to walk up to the cyber podium. That in itself is yet another step in the right direction. As much as Adam leaves us wanting to know more than what he wants us to know, there are certainly enough golden gum balls for the more eagle-eyed Antfan to chew on.
