Adam Ant Art suggested cover

Adam Ant News - Adam Ant is planning to release a deluxe 'coffee table' book complete with a CD of selected tracks which were performed live in September 2007.

News of the book, which is tentatively called "Adam Ant Art", has been doing the round on the Ant Rap forum over recent weeks with a special site set up at adamantbook.com to generate interest with the help of Essential Works and adam-ant.net (links below).

The site describes the publication as "a very personal book from Adam that celebrates his (musical and visual) influences and aspirations...". The plan is to include his previously unpublished storyboards and artwork along with his lyric ideas. The accompanying CD, news of which was only announced last week, will feature some of the 13 songs performed in front of over 500 fans at London's Bloomsbury Theatre on September 24th 2007.

This is by no means a new idea as there was a plan to publish a 'coffee table' book as far back as 2004/2005 when Marco Pirroni and Mark Alleyne were planning and designing the Adam Ant Remastered CD's, and the now shelved Digital Tenderness DVD and Young Man Rocking demos box set. It is known that discussions had taken place concerning the idea, which is now being promoted through Essential Works, who represent Adam.

The adamantbook.com website has given fans a peek inside one of the planned chapters, "Sketches & Ideas" by displaying cover ideas for the Puss 'N Boots single, costume ideas (left) for a 1983 Top Of The Pops performance, and a sketch idea for the Strip LP sleeve, which also quotes its influence from a Jane Russell still, which can be seen on this site's Ant Influences page by clicking here.

It has to be said that the book is only being considered at this stage. The site states that if it is published, "...it will be a lavish, full colour hardback..." and will have a "limited print run...and will be sold exclusively online, direct to Antfans". Before that becomes a reality, Essential Works need to the assess the level of interest from the fans.

To do this, if you haven't done so already, just visit adamantbook.com by clicking the banner below and enter your details and the number of copies you'd like on the page. The price of the book is expected to by around £45, however you don't have to spend a penny at this time, and no card or payment details are taken. Essentially you are reserving your copy once enough interest has been generated.
