PUSSYCAT DOLLS
CARTY REMIX

Carty News - Former UK chart-topping single Don't Cha by the Pussycat Dolls (PCD) has been remixed for inclusion on the WTF Volume 2 CD.  The ten minute Chopper Remix features the rare UK club hit On Ya Way by Helicopter from the early 1990's, a bass line lifted from 80's house act Seduction, and Richard Burton's vocal from a 2005 remix of Jeff Wayne's Eve Of The WarBusta Rhyme's rap has been removed for this remix.

Ant Lady's sleeve (above) features a picture of the PCD which looks as though the ginger-haired member has part of her head missing!  There's also a still from the new War Of The Worlds movie, and my car has been converted into a helicopter.  Very tasty...as is the sleeve.  ;-)

The remix can be downloaded by clicking on the sleeve for the link to antfan.com.

MARCO TALKS OF PANZER TRACK
ON ANT WEBLOG

Ant Lady's cover for the Carty/Marco collaboration

Marco News - Marco Pirroni has spoken out about his involvement in the Panzer Mädchen track for the first time on the new Ant Weblog, Music For A Future Age. Marco tells how he started playing the riff to Deutscher Girls on one of Adam's guitars and how he sent it to me to see what I could do with it.

Much passing of demos back and forth resulted in Mix I being born (with Mix II and Mix III) following after Marco had "left the building".  In the weblog, Marco tells Steve Ant about my truly awful bass line that I used in the track's infancy, and how he roped in Chris Constantinou to lay down a proper bass.

He also commented on how he intended it to be the first of many Ant tracks (which he never played live on) to do with me, and that he's waiting for me to suggest a track.  I'd better get thinking then!!

Read Marco's full comments and download the track by going here.

NEW CARTY DBNS REMIX

Ant Lady's cover for the new remix

Carty News - The seventh and final Ant remix for Carty Mixes Volume 8 has been completed.  Influenced by the Crazy Ant's "Yabba Ding Ding" from Carty Mixes Volume 7, we're now treated to the Delirious remix of "Desperate But Not Serious".

The CD's final mix was going to be a remix of Lady but that will probably appear on Volume 9 when it's completed.  Desperate But Not Serious (Delirius Remix) will shortly be available for download via this site as will the new CD cover.

2nd OFFICIAL ANT SITE?

Ant News - The man responsible for letting down so many Ant fans by running the official Adam Ant Fan Club (Ant News Now) has posted on the Ant Rap forum that he is to start a new Ant website.

Bryan Stanton said in his post that Adam is now "fully recovered and spending some time living outside London." He added that he had no "concrete plans for a musical comeback" but not to "rule it out in the future."

He plans to launch the new "free membership" site in April 2006. It will include a free e-mail newsletter every three months and each newsletter will have at least one free prize competition. He added that there would be "no land mail with this new venture", which let him down so badly in the past.

When questioned about his comment about Adam's current health, he replied that Adam had been "taking medicine since his last relapse and although you can't expect a full recovery without the medicine, Adam should suffer no relapses if he continues with the treatment."  He continued, "the unfortunate aspect with mental illness is that you can't stop with the treatment, even in years to come, if you feel 100% and no longer feel you need the medicine".

Most fans didn't recognise Bryan's name and when asked, he responded that he used to run "Adam's fan club, Ant News Today, which went very wrong for a number of reasons, many of which, were my own fault."   He added that he has realised where he went wrong, which is why he is working on a "new free website, which will cost absolutely nothing and will feature a number of free giveaways".

The official Adam website is recognised as adam-ant.net which made Bryan's comment that "Adam will contribute when he is able", a little dubious.  However, the new site will be launched with a free limited (at least 100) edition t-shirt.

He claimed that the site is going to be a "give back from the old Ant News Today organisation" and that it is not going to be a competition to the current official one, "only an alternative".

Visitors to the forum are treating the announcement with mixed views, but it seems the only way to know what is going to happen is to wait until April 2006.  We'll be watching.

'IT DOESN'T MATTER'
CARTY REMIXES

Carty News - After being impressed with the track that follows Black Pirates on the Lavender Pill Mob's Mikes Bikes CD, it has now been treated to three Carty remixes.  Mob member Gary Asquith was very keen to hear the remix, so an additional two were created and mailed to his home in the South of France this week.

The main remix is the Alpha Remix and features newly programmed funky drums, a new bass line and added keyboards.  The other two mixes (the Beta and Gamma remixes) have a more clubby feel.  One being very dancey whilst the other is very ambient in nature.  (The track has no connection whatsoever to the Ant track of the same name.)

It is not known at this stage whether the remixes will be available to download as I'm waiting to see what Gary has to say about them.  He also requested a CD of some of my best Ant remixes, which was a sod to compile!  Ten tracks from the later volumes were sent, although I forgot to include the two tracks I did with Marco last year!  Ah well!

NEW INSECT NATIØN
MAILING LIST

Ant News - A brand new email based mailing list has been created to run alongside the INSECT NATIØN forum. Described by forum moderator Ant Lady as its "little brother", she posted that "it became clear that there's a vast amount of Antfans that hardly visit the forums/websites/bulletin boards but that still would like to stay updated about anything Ant via email."

"There are several Ant mailing lists around already, but the conversation on those lists often goes off topic."

"So, for the same reasons we created this forum, we now also created an ON-topic mailing list: http://launch.groups.yahoo.com/group/insectnation/" (click to visit and join)

It's a Yahoo! group, which means you will need a Yahoo ID to sign up. After joining the list you can choose to get the messages via email (with the option of getting a daily digest) or to read them on the group's page.

Any Ant news posted on the Insect Natiøn forum will be cross-posted to the new mailing list (and vice versa).

To subscribe, just enter your email address into the yellow box in the left hand column of this page.

ALF SITE BACK ONLINE

Ant News - After an absence of almost 18 months, the Ant Liberation Front (ALF) are back online with a new look site.  The new "UK tabloid-esque" look has been in the planning stages for most of this time and I was fortunate enough to get a sneak preview in July 2004 at Madam Stan's home.

The ALF site used to be one of two main Ant sites which featured all the latest Ant news, but had not been updated since May 25th 2004.  Now, to coincide with the forthcoming disco, the site has started to slowly get back to life with more pages to be added as time goes by.

More details will be announced nearer the time.

BRAND NEW ANT WEBLOG

Ant News - Time served Ant fan Steve Ant has started the web's first ever Ant related weblog which is called Music For A Future Age.  He refers to the site as an mp3 blog and adds that he will, "rotate the mp3's a few each week, so grab them fast!"

"I will also try and keep them to rare live versions or remixes, demos, etc, rather than the ones readily available on CD (so you won't see Goody Two Shoes here!). The odd official track will appear now and then, but with the intent on making you GO BUY THE CD! A link will be given where available for you to do so."

Marco Pirroni has given Steve the ok to add mp3's so we wait in vain to see what gems will appear each week.  The blog will also include odd bits of Ant news and links to Ant sites.  Already we have been treated to some exclusive news from Marco about the Ants' live performances of Plastic Surgery, with the promise of some mp3's to follow, plus a link to download the BBC Radio Scotland interview with Marco broadcast on October 3rd (donated to the weblog by yours truly).

ADAM ANT AUTOBIOGRAPHY ANNOUNCED

One of Ant Lady's suggested  book covers

Ant News - I have hinted on the front page of this site of an Adam Ant autobiography in the scrolling Project Watch box for the past few months and it has finally been confirmed.  Adam Ant will be publishing "Stand & Deliver", his own story in his own words in Autumn 2006.

Sidgwick & Jackson are to publish his memoirs after buying the rights from Essential Works for a "substantial sum".  Marco Pirroni has confirmed this to be true. This news also comes at a time when rumours of a second Adam book are growing.  But that one concentrates purely on his imagery through the years of his musical career.

RACHEL STEVENS
NEW SINGLE HAS
ANT FLAVOUR

a still from an older video

Ant News - Ex S Club 7 hottie, Rachel Stevens' new single has more than just a passing resemblance to the music of Adam And The Ants. "I Said Never Again (But Here We Are)" is released in the UK on October 3rd 2005 and has the same drum pattern as "'Antmusic'" and the Burundi guitar rhythms from "Kings Of The Wild Frontier".

The track will be available in radio edit, instrumental and extended versions and is expected to crash into the Top 5.  Sadly, Adam & Marco will not make a penny from its impending success but it is sure to lift the profile of the Ants with the younger generation. (It better had!)

A Carty remix of the song has also been produced incorporating elements of the two Ant tracks (with a little Status Quo).  Response to the remix has been favourable from Ant fans, Rachel Stevens fans, other remixers and Marco Pirroni who said, "it's really good".

The single is released on October 3rd 2005
The Carty remix is featured on Volume 8 of the Carty Mixes.

LAVENDER PILL MOB
ANSWER BACK

Ant News - While the Ant world wait ever so patiently for ALF's interview with one half of the Lavender Pill Mob (Kevin Mooney), the other half of the duo (Gary Asquith) has fought back at the strong criticism of the "Black Pirates" track on their new CD Mikes Bikes. The track in question features Adam Ant singing the lyrics to "Chicken Outlaw".

A small number of Ant fans have expressed their disappointment at the track's inclusion on the album.  Gary exclusively tells us in response to the comments on the OLLA forum, "we never kidnapped Adam to do the track.  He wanted to record with the Lavender Pill Mob. Kevin has done everything possible to be a good friend to Adam - which they still are...good friends.

"Both Kevin and myself like the track. That's why it's on our album. Kevin has also been round to see Adam and everything is normal in their relationship.

"I've known Adam for many years.  Also, when Andy Warren played the bass his girlfriend played drums in Rema Rema.  I'd hear all the new material and hang out at their Exhibition Road flat.  Rema Rema had it's glory taken from it when Adam stole Marco. We had a fantastic set of songs that should of been an album. Sadly it never happened.

"Kevin (isn't) no scumbag and I don't like hearing people say bad things about him (or me come to think about it). I'm happy with my contribution to music and I love "Mikes Bikes".  It's a good album and I'm pleased to have The Mekon, Film 2, the Detroit Sinner and Adam on board. It's a good ship. Kevin's been really patient with Adam and his problems and invested good time with him in his sometimes hour
of need.  I know because I've been around while Kevin takes his calls and visited him with Kevin to calm him down.  He's also got ****** around him who I also like very much - she's doing her best for Adam.

"I played "Black Pirates" today after having spoken with Kevin to see if it still sounded the way I thought it did - and it does and I really like the track. I can't see me changing on that note.  It's just my genuine
feeling. It's great for my ears.

"Kevin speaks highly of Madam Stan so I imagine the interview went well.  He seems quite happy about it anyway. He seems to be going through a very positive stage at the moment and he's got his gang of daughters back with him. It's sweet seeing them all vie for his attention."

Madam Stan's interview with Kevin Mooney is expected imminently on their new look site, which has yet to be unveiled (I hope you like red).

A Carty remix of the Lavender Pill Mob's "It Doesn't Matter" is currently in production which may be used on the band's website jukebox (pending approval).

ANT LIB TO INTERVIEW
KEVIN MOONEY

Ant News - Ant Lib (a.k.a. Madam Stan) are to interview ex-Ant bassist and Lavender Pill Mobster, Kevin Mooney.  The interview is scheduled to take place tomorrow (Saturday Sept 10th), and it is hoped that many questions will be asked concerning the Black Pirates track off their album Mikes Bikes, which features Adam Ant singing Chicken Outlaw.

It wouldn't be the first time ALF have interviewed Kevin.  You can read their other interview with him here.
Hopefully this interview will be published on the new look ALF site soon, which has been in the planning stages for over a year.

NEW CARTY ANT MIX

Bloody Graffiti Artists!!

Carty/Ant News - The latest Ant mix to be unleashed from my bowels is the Household Brick Mix.  This follows Cartrouble (Part 3) onto Carty Mixes Volume 8 and was created after being offered a guest spot at the 2005 Ant Lib Disco and this mix will open my set.  The intro should cause quite a stir on the faces of the attendees and I will not look up until the Ant tracks kick in.  ;-)

The mix features full length versions of some of the best Ant B-sides.  For more details on the running order, click here.

MIKES BIKES REVIEWED

Reviewed by Carty and Steve Ant

Ant News - The Lavender Pill Mob's latest album, Mikes Bikes, has been dissected track by track for this site.  I also invited Steve Ant (as he's known online) to contribute his comments.  The review includes quotes from the text on the CD's back cover which accompanies the track listings.

Mikes Bikes features the increasingly controversial Black Pirates, which features Adam Ant on vocals singing Chicken Outlaw.  Ant fans who have heard the track are not pleased with its inclusion on the album.  It was recorded in 2003 around the time when Adam was not at his best health and many feel that the band are using Adam's name to shift copies.

You can read the review here.
You can buy the CD here (£9.99).

NEW VIVE LE ROCK REMIX

Vive Le Rock (Si Remix) by Simon Clarke

Ant News - As if being the lead singer of the UK's newest Ants tribute band wasn't enough, Simon Clarke has produced a three minute remix of Vive Le Rock.  We were luckily enough to get an advance play and it's a belter!  Simon has said that he intends to add the tune to his Antflavour site so that fans can download it for free.

It's subtitled the Si Remix and was created in the space of a couple of hours in Simon's home.  Let's hope it's the first of many.

ANTFLAVOUR TRIBUTE BAND

The latest UK Ants tribute band

Ant News - A brand new Ants tribute band had been announced to the Ant world. Antflavour is the dream of long time Ant fan Simon Clark. He says, "I'm the lead singer with new Adam Ant tribute band "Antflavour" We perform all the hits, various album tracks and some of the early stuff. I've been a fan for over 25 years now and am finally realising my dream to perform as Adam."

He hails from Doncaster in South Yorkshire and initially dressed as Adam at a fancy dress party and sang 'Antmusic' on the karaoke.  In June 2003 he entered a competition getting through to the grand final and winning as Adam with the same song.  A year later he's performing in Tenerife before being signed up by a look-a-like agency in October of last year.

In January of this year the band's website, antflavour.co.uk, was set up and today you can download their live version of Cartrouble (that's one word guys!) plus a screen saver and pics galore.

The band consist of Gary Robinson on drums/backing vocals, Gary Burton on bass guitar, Lee Ellis-Burton on guitar/backing vocals and Simon up front as Adam Ant.

This news is hot on the tails of an Ants tribute band explosion as Ligotage get underway, and Madam & The Ants are rumoured to be planning a new line up.  Bring it on guys!

'ADMUSIC' FOR WOLFMEN

Marco, De Niro and Merrick are the Wolfmen

Marco News - We're getting reports that the Wolfmen are recording music to be used for TV ads for two giant cosmetic companies.  Details are deliberately sketchy to protect the innocent, but the ads concerned are thought to be aimed at the European market.

So if you fancy putting "on a little make-up, make-up", or getting "wet with sweat", then these tracks could help you decide what to buy.

The Wolfmen comprise of Marco Pirroni, Chris Constantinou (aka De Niro), and Chris Hughes (producing).  They are currently winding up their first album entitled Modernity Killed Every Night. Tracks expected to appear are All Nighter, Black Dahlia, Bring It On, Dirk Wears White Sox, Do the Ostrich, Hymn To Beau, Needles, Modernity Killed Every Night and Zip Gun.

The Wolfmen also feature on the next Mantra II single, Werewolves Of London, which will also include an exclusive Carty remix of (Chant) Mantra II.  But that's another story.

NEW 'ADAM' TRACK RELEASED

Black Pirates features Adam Ant

Ant News - The mystery has now been solved.  Did we get Adam Ant singing Chicken Outlaw as previously thought?  Or is it just Adam adding guest vocals to someone else's track?  The answer is both.  Ex Ant bassist Kevin Mooney's band the Lavender Pill Mob have released their second album, Mikes Bikes.  After months of waiting, co-member Gary Asquith (formerly of Renegade Soundwave) confirmed the CD had finally been dispatched.  It arrived here at Carty Towers today.  So what did we find?

A ten track CD, and not one of them called Chicken Outlaw - not a good start, but closer inspection revealed that track 2 is called Black Pirates.  This is the track that Mooney is trying to get Adam to perform when the band start touring.  A flick through the eight page booklet didn't reveal much at all, so the only thing to do was play it.  (The cause of the delay of the release was supposed to printing issues with the booklet, something that seems to dog Ant CD's of late.)

Black Pirates is raw, guitary and slow paced.  Why it's called Black Pirates remains to be seen as it is Adam singing Chicken Outlaw, which was the first single released by Wide Boy Awake, another Mooney band, back in the 80's.  It has to be said, his vocal performance is not in the same league as his other work, but musically this is very different from the original.  I can't help but guess when these vocals were recorded, but if pressed I would say not long after Save The Gorilla.

A track by track album review will appear on this site soon.

Mikes Bikes is out now on Le Coq Musique and can be ordered via credit card or PayPal HERE.

BURNLEY GIG CANCELLED

Buggers!

Ant News - Ligotage, the brand new UK Ants tribute band have announced that their Burnley gig has been cancelled due to the main act having to pull out.  It was meant to have been on the 27th August 2005, supporting a band called Pennyroyal.

But it's not all bad news.  The band have told me that they have been rehearsing solidly for seven hours at a time, and that things are really shaping up nicely.  They hope to be out on the road shortly and also into the studio very soon to get some tracks laid down.

I can wait to hear the studio tracks!

RARE BEAUTIFUL DREAM CDs FOR SALE

Bought for just £2120...and now back up for sale

Ant News - It was just three months ago when Adam Ant's Beautiful Dream CD2 single was auctioned on eBay.  The winner of that very competitive bidding contest was Aiden8 also known as Donna, paying an awesome £2120 for the item. But since then she has recently informed of her intention to sell her CD2 along with the equally rare CD1 single on the Ant Rap forum.

Her reasons are personal but is in complete contrast to the sheer joy Donna expressed when she realised she'd won the bid.  It believed the other two bidders have not shown any interest in the CD at this time.

CARTROUBLE REMIXED

It had to happen...click the sleeve!

Carty News - After years of promising not to touch the sacred track that is Cartrouble, I couldn't resist it after being offered a guest spot at the Ant Lib Disco 2005. The remix, which brings together Parts 1 and 2 has been weeks in the making and it is recommended that you turn up the volume and pump up your bass to appreciate the full depth of the 10 minute mix.

The remix kicks off as the first track on the new Carty Mixes Volume 8 CD.  News of the second track is expected in the next few weeks (more info on this site's forum)

The track can be downloaded by clicking on the cover above, which will take you to the download page.

MIKES BIKES CDs POSTED
and ANTS REUNION?

In the mail at last

Ant News - The long awaited "Mikes Bikes" compilation CD on Kevin Mooney's label Le Coq Musique has finally been mailed out today. Initially due in June 2005, the released was dogged with problems with the CD insert booklet. Although a track listing has yet to be announced, it is due to arrive on door mats around the globe this coming week.

The release is significant to Ant fans worldwide as it includes Adam Ant's version of "Chicken Outlaw", which was previously released by Kevin Mooney's old 1980's band Wide Boy Awake. Kevin's current band, the Lavender Pill Mob, also have a track featured on the CD.

Ex-Ant Mooney has also been talking about going to Berlin in November to record another Lavender Pill Mob album. We can also expect a remix of a track from "Mikes Bikes" on the next Pale Music's "Berlin Insane" album and he's been asked to do some gigs. He's meeting with Adam to ask him to show up and perform "Black Pirate" in the hope that the Ants re-unite with a little push from Kevin. Exactly how many ex-Ant members are planned in such a project is unknown.

Mikes Bikes is out now and can be ordered via credit card or PayPal HERE.

Ant News - A new cover version of an Ant tune has been unearthed whilst shopping in a Welsh shopping centre.  On a recent visit to Cwmbrân, I heard a rather dodgy version of Apollo 9 blaring through the PA system.  This shopping center has, for many years, played cover versions of tunes from the 1980's and never has an Ant tune been heard.  But once this was played through it was a quick visit to the management offices to investigate more.

Cwmbrân Shopping showed me a their music catalogue which contained the CD that was playing.  Disc J57 R28 did indeed contain Apollo 9.  There were too many listings in the catalogue to see if there were any other Ant tunes, but I did make some notes.

The company behind the songs are GMS Music and they supply discs and tapes for public performance in such venues as shopping malls.  They are based in Scotland as GMS (Recordings) Ltd, and I'm hoping a copy catalogue is on its way.

It must be noted that this is the first time Apollo 9 has been covered and that the company should have taken a bit more care when locating the correct lyrics!

NEW UK ANTS TRIBUTE BAND

The new name is announced

Ant News - Rising out of the ashes of Madam And The Ants, who performed a stunning set at the Ant Lib Live 3 Ants Convention in November 2004, we can reveal that the remaining band members have been recruiting, rehearsing and booking gigs.  The new band are now called Ligøtage, and features Wayne Hibberts on vocals who replaces Madam Stan after internal disagreements.  The new full line-up can now be confirmed as:

Owen - drums
Wixx - bass
Coxy - rhythm guitar
Ciaron - lead guitar
Wayne - vocals

Initially Family Of Noise was considered for the name, but the Peel Session song won the day. Rehearsals began in July 2005 sometimes lasting five hours long and are expected to play a gig in Burnley sometime in August 2005.

They even have a very impressive website which is currently under construction. but is worth checking regularly for updates.  We wish them all the very best!

NEW ADAM SONG NEWS

Darryl Read (not Leo Sayer)

Ant News - It has been revealed on the Insect Nation forum that Adam Ant has co-written and recorded a new song with "poet, provocateur, pinup, and punk forerunner", Darryl Read.  Speculation arose when forum moderator AntX (Walt) uncovered some new news on http://www.darrylread.com/beat.html.

The song has the very catchy title of Excuse My French (You're A Mean Motherfucker) and both Adam and Darryl have copies of the recording.

After emailing Darryl, Walt has posted this reply on Insect Nation:

I can tell you the name of the song Adam and I put together: 'Excuse My French (You're A Mean Motherfucker)', which was recorded at the time, I have a copy and so does Adam. The designs and picture (story boards) were for a video shoot; to film a song off my Shaved CD album called 'Walking Street'  - which he was really into, and all were his concepts for the promo film he wanted to shoot. Adam gave me these excellent drawings of his.

He also came up with an idea or two for a new album cover for the album CD 'Shaved' for a world wide release, which was just out in Germany (underground-wise). He gave me the book of the drawings; some time after, which I treasure.

As well as being good friends, I found that there was a natural chemistry between us - creatively. I visited Adam every day whilst he was in the Royal Free hospital, and was around for him, as were a few others, when a lot weren't.

I hope Adam is doing well, I wish him all the luck for the future.

For more on this check out the updates section of Walt's new Ant site.

INTRODUCING CRAZY ANT

Move Over Froggy!

Carty/Ant News - As news of the Crazy Frog spending a fourth week at the top of the UK charts with the ring tone inspired cover version of Axel F, the bandwagon has given a lift to a new rival, Crazy Ant!  Even though Yabba Ding Ding is based around the melody from Desperate But Not Serious, the main vocal hook comes from Apollo 9 (as the title suggests).  It also features snippets of other Ant vocals, including Rough Stuff, Prince Charming, Kings Of The Wild Frontier and Deutscher Girls.

The tune is yet another product of the Carty factory and comes as a result of a last minute request by Ant fan Sparky for the 2005 MichigAnt Party.  With only days to plan, execute and complete the mix, the resulting mix has now completed Volume 7 of the Carty Mixes CD's

Members of the Ant Rap forum also requested an edited version for use as a ring tone for their mobile phones, and both are available by simply emailing us here.

Will it become as annoying as the Frog?  Well if that ever becomes the case, I leave you with Marco Pirroni's reaction to it..."Genius!!"
