ANT LIB DISCO 2005
WEEKEND

Ant Lib are taking a rest from organising the regular Ants Convention
this year. But that isn't stopping them from laying on a SEVEN*
hour disco of back to back Antmusic (*UPDATE: video
screenings are planned which will mean less disco time!).
This page is a guide to
all the details you'll need should you be thinking of attending.
When is it?
Saturday
29th October 2005, (7pm - 2am)
Where is it?
The
Prodigal (click
here for venue info)
Wood Street
London EC2V 7JQ

The Prodigal, Wood Street, London
The Prodigal is an
upmarket city bar, 5 minutes walk from St. Paul's tube station. Set
on two levels this bar can accommodate 600
people with a late license available.

Wot? No chandelier?
What is it?
It's not a convention this year.
It's a disco featuring Madam
Stan on the decks (unconfirmed). To quote from the
new ALF site, "No bands, no dodgy comedians – just
pure unadulterated Sexmusic for Antpeople!"
Initially I had been asked to do
a guest spot but that soon changed for reasons best not repeated
here!! But don't let that spoil your fun! It's the
perfect opportunity to meet your online Ant chums plus some new ones
who have yet to discover the Internet (either that or they have
lives!).
The disco will feature seven
hours of "big screen entertainment, special guests (including former
Ants Terry Lee Miall and Kevin Mooney!) and of course
lashings of Antmusic and related sounds".
There will also be a merchandise
grotto which will be 'manned' by the loveable Deutscher Girl.
If you fancy getting your hands on some half price goodies, you have
to get there before 7:30pm! For the very latest, you'd best check
out ALF's own disco page
here. Unfortunately,
Ant DJ will not be attending this year due to other
commitments.
How do I get there?
The nearest tube station is
St. Paul's on the
Central Line, a picture of which
can be seen
here. Alternatively, a street plan can be viewed
here. There are also further directions and transport
details on the
ALF disco page.
What about tickets?
Cost:
£9 in advance, and admission is by
advance tickets only, which
means you cannot get in on the night without a ticket!!!
Payment: PayPal from Ant Lib (https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr)
or you can visit
http://www.adamandtheants.org/news/disco/2005.htm where you can
send an SAE for an application form...another first!!!
Don't expect to receive the tickets until closer to the event (going
on past experience)
Where can I stay?
If you want to stay in a hotel
near to the Ant Lib Disco venue (near St
Paul's), just visit
http://maps.google.co.uk/ and enter "EC2 hotel" into the
search box. This will display a map with a cluster of hotels
in that area. Just zoom in to see the hotel ID tags on the
map.
It should be pointed out that
most people tend to stay at the
Howard
Winchester, but it may be filling up with Ant fans pretty
quickly. That's in Argyle Square,
close to King's Cross station (a
19 minute tube journey to the venue).
To check out the locations of the
other hotels in Argyle Square, go to
http://maps.google.co.uk/ and enter "WC1H 8AS hotel" into
the search box.
What shall I wear?
Cool new Ant t-shirts from the
NME
here.
Ant clobber designed by Formi
here.
Merchandise from Ant Lib
here.
Merchandise from Antics Worldwide
here.
What's happening on the Friday?
Normally an army of Ant fans head
to Camden for some
clothes shopping. That's
THE place to pick up the coolest gear for the Saturday night.
Then again, some fans go on the Saturday and the Sunday too.
(I recommend the many Chinese noodles kiosks - droool!)
In the evening, the
Euston Flyer is the place to be (click the name for
details and directions). That's where most of the disco
attendees will be. For more details on this (or if you have
any questions), please visit the Ant Rap
Forum as that's where people are talking about that
particular night.
Ciaron,
the guitarist with Ants tribute band
Ligotage
(and formerly with Madam & The Ants)
WILL be taking his acoustic guitar with him so we can all have an
Ant sing-a-long!

The Euston Flyer on Friday night
The Euston Flyer is in between the
King's Cross and
Euston stations.
It is advised that you check on
the many Ant forums for the latest developments (links below).
(I would say check back here regularly, but I'll get lynched if I
have a lazy week and miss all the details.)
What's happening on the
Saturday?
Sleep off that hangover and get
up at 6pm to grab a shower and get changed for the disco.
(Just tag along with the Ant Mob.
They're easy to spot!!)
What's happening on the Sunday?
If you're a true Ant fan you'll
be leaving the disco in the early hours of Sunday and wonder how the
hell you're going to get back to your hotel!!
Camden tends to
feature in the places to go again, but it's not compulsory....or is
it?
(I dare say that closer to the
weekend more details will become apparent.)
Where can I find out more info?
ALF now have a page for the
Saturday night event
here.
Check out the
Ant Lib Disco 2005 thread on the
Ant Lib Forum
here.
Or the AATA Disco thread on the
adam-ant.net Forum
here.
