The collaboration between ex-Ant Marco Pirroni and Carty began in September 2004 when Marco sent some unused bits of guitars to him to "cut them up and see what you can do with them". A 90 second track called
Werewolf Walk resulted it Carty doing just that and sending it back to Marco. (It's not actually known what he thought of that first demo, but it will be re-worked for a future project).
Shortly after Carty was sent a rough demo of Marco playing the main riff from
Deutscher Girls along with the
separated tracks for mixing. This demo was called Panzer Girls.
Mr. P. said he had a "rock feel in mind, something along the lines of ZZ Top". Carty took some ZZ Top drum samples and set to work. It lacked bass, so a keyboard was used to plot out the notes used in the original Deutscher Girls
bass line. A new bass line was then totally recreated by Carty and a synth effect added (which Carty claims as his first attempt at writing music!).
Marco didn't waste any time in telling Carty that his PC-made
bass line was shit and that the ZZ Top drum loop was annoying and repetitive. He also said his guitar parts needed replaying as he was being lazy when he recorded them. The titles he gave to these new guitar parts had now changed to
Panzer Machen, which Carty had corrected to Panzer Mädchen (with the help of Ant Lady).
New drum loops were also sent to Carty along with even more guitar parts. Because of the need for a decent
bass line, Marco had roped in fellow Wolfmen bassist Chris Constantinou (who also played bass on Adam & Marco's
Vive Le Rock LP as Chris De Niro.) The resulting production from Carty is what now appears here as I Mix.
