The collaboration between ex-Ant Marco Pirroni and Carty began in September 2004 when Marco sent some unused bits of guitars to him to "cut them up and see what you can do with them". A 90 second track called Werewolf Walk resulted it Carty doing just that and sending it back to Marco. (It's not actually known what he thought of that first demo, but it will be re-worked for a future project).

Shortly after Carty was sent a rough demo of Marco playing the main riff from Deutscher Girls along with the separated tracks for mixing. This demo was called Panzer Girls. Mr. P. said he had a "rock feel in mind, something along the lines of ZZ Top". Carty took some ZZ Top drum samples and set to work. It lacked bass, so a keyboard was used to plot out the notes used in the original Deutscher Girls bass line. A new bass line was then totally recreated by Carty and a synth effect added (which Carty claims as his first attempt at writing music!).

Marco didn't waste any time in telling Carty that his PC-made bass line was shit and that the ZZ Top drum loop was annoying and repetitive. He also said his guitar parts needed replaying as he was being lazy when he recorded them. The titles he gave to these new guitar parts had now changed to Panzer Machen, which Carty had corrected to Panzer Mädchen (with the help of Ant Lady).

New drum loops were also sent to Carty along with even more guitar parts. Because of the need for a decent bass line, Marco had roped in fellow Wolfmen bassist Chris Constantinou (who also played bass on Adam & Marco's Vive Le Rock LP as Chris De Niro.) The resulting production from Carty is what now appears here as I Mix.

Even though Carty had produced I Mix, it had been mainly under Marco's direction. So he felt the need to try his hand at a second mix. This time, without the big man's assistance. New drums were created from scratch, and Chris's bass was fed through a few effects and looped. To give the track an ambient feel, some strings were added (sampled from a track that was emailed to Ant Lady by fellow Ant fan Il Duce).

Marco's guitars were kept further back in the mix and also fed through some effects. Seeing as the track was not a vocal one, the BBC announcement, "Hitler is dead" was retained, but the "ding" sample from Deutscher Girls was dropped. Suggestions by Marco for German tank names for the mixes were dropped by Carty and this became II Mix.

There was no doubt that the guitar parts Marco had recorded for this track were a lot heavier than the Ants' original. Marco's initial idea of the ZZ Top feel had appealed to Carty in a big way. He turned to a rare remix of "Warriors Of The Wasteland" by Frankie Goes To Hollywood for inspiration. It featured some very heavy guitar playing by an uncredited Gary Moore, and a great rolling drum loop. That drum loop appears in this mix along with the ZZ Top drums rejected in I Mix by Marco!

The heavier of Marco's guitars were brought more to the front of the track than the first mix and his sitar playing retained to give it a smoother flow. Carty's synth was dropped, as was a feedback section Marco had sent (although Carty did use some glam-rock style guitars he'd recorded purposely for this mix).

Even though the track had been named and the three mixes approved by Marco, it took some time to decide on how to credit the two ex-Ants. Initially it was meant to be Carty ft Rommel's Rod on guitar, a name that was suggested by Marco but dropped after Chris's involvement. There's a line in the Vive Le Rock track Scorpio Rising that name checks the band: "The Greek, the Gypsy, the Italian and the Pole take a look around...", so it was finally agreed to credit it to Carty, The Greek and The Italian.
