In November 2003, Adam Ant and
Wonderful collaborator, Boz Boorer recorded
this 5 track CD as a fundraiser for the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund (now
called The Gorilla Organisation).
But the project was doomed. Just three days before release day,
EMI and Marco Pirroni allegedly refused to grant the charity
permission to release it. All 2,000 copies of the CD were ordered
to be destroyed, with only Adam, Boz and the charity retaining the only copies.
Nevertheless, copies of the tracks filtered through to fans and eventually
became known anyway.
The 5 tracks were tidied up and edited
down by Boz for the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund's CD, but the original unedited
tracks have also made their way into the hands of fans.
The Gorilla Organisation works
internationally to save mountain gorillas from extinction and ensure local
people genuinely benefit from their unique natural heritage.
